Ozzy's Birthday Dinner

September 14th, 2008    •  by Bethia    •   1 Comment »

Except that we have no idea when Ozzy’s birthday really is, Ozzy being a rescue dog of uncertain pedigree. The date was spuriously chosen as the birthday for his facebook profile (yes he does have one!) and coincidentally coincided with the date chosen for the long heralded thank you dinner for the dog sitters (myself included) who looked after Ozzy earlier in the summer.

The menu:

Asparagus soup

Filet mignon with blue cheese, potatoes, beans and pasta shells

And if that wasn’t enough calorific consumption, the surfeit of food was washed down with an equal quantity and range of alcohol. Some excellent cabernet sauvignons (Judd’s Hill 2000 & Woodward Canyon 1999 – the Judd’s Hill was superlative); a fine array of single malts and some Australian port and quandong liquer. I think there were 12 bottles on the table at one point. Needless to say the dinner was such to ensure no shortage of volunteers for future dog sitting.

  1. The Judd’s Hill was from 1999 and Woodward Canyon was from 2000. Also, I thought it was the Woodward Canyon that you preferred.
