A Date to Remember

Saturday January 29th is the 2011 Columbus Young Professionals ‘A Date to Remember‘. As a sponsor of the event we have been given two VIP tickets to give away to our readers.

Last year A Date to Remember raised over $35,000 for charity and this year they are raising money for A Kid Again and Flying Horse Farms. Last year more than 700 people attended the event which was voted the best charity event in Central Ohio by Columbus C.E.O. Magazine.

This year’s event will be held at the LC Pavilion (405 Neil Avenue). Cocktail hour begins at 7:00pm (doors open at 6.30pm) with appetizers and desserts donated by local restaurants (Barrio, Bob Evans Restaurants, Due Amici, Hubbard Grille, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, J. Liu Restaurant & Bar, Mezzo Italian Kitchen, and Taste of Belgium) and a beer sampling booth. Attire is cocktail or dressy/casual (no jeans).

The date auction and fashion show begins at 8:00pm. Eight bachelors, eight bachelorettes, and four couples/friends will model some of the city’s best fashions as you have the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind packages (including two Columbus Food Adventures tours) which our date participants will be showcasing. All of the proceeds of the event go to the two charities.

If you would like to enter to win our two free VIP tickets to the event please leave a comment telling us about a memorable date that you had – you don’t need to give ALL of the details, just something about why it was memorable or where you went.

A winner will be chosen at random. Entries close Saturday January 22nd at noon.

If you would like to buy tickets to the event they are available on the CYP website. They are $25 if you buy them before 1/21 and are $35 at the door.

Christmas Eve 2009 out to dinner with my husband on our honeymoon in Franschoek, South Africa. We celebrated the holiday & our wedding over a perfect meal and a delicious bottle of local wine.

  2. A day trip to see one of my favorite bands. A date filled with live music? Doesn’t get much better!

  3. Zoofari a couple of weeks into our relationship. It was a turning point for us, in a good way.

  4. Lying around drinking chocolate milk in cognac glasses, playing Uno while we figure out what to do for the day, then not caring at all when nothing gets decided. Perfectly content.

  5. Just wanted to jump in and say THANK YOU to Bethia and our friends at Columbus Food Adventures. This event is going to be huge and we are so happy that CFA is a part of the fun this year. http://www.date2remember.org.

A first date at Rigsby, probably 1987, followed by a a stolen kiss inside the old rail station arch, ah to be young and invincible again!

  7. We were 18, a month into college, and he asked me on to go on a real date (not just to the house-party down the street). He had to borrow a car (it was raining and the windshield wipers only worked when they wanted to). We went to eat and he disappeared for a very long time during dinner. I find out much later he had no money on him and no ATM was to be found. He had to run all over town rather than just ask me to help him out. It’s the most memorable because I was young enough to find this all hilariously sweet and fall in love with him anyway.

  8. A Matt Nathanson concert at Newport Music Hall one month into our relationship. We both love Matt Nathanson, but what made the date really special was that he had bought the tickets right after our first date! My first reaction was that he must be pretty confident this thing was going to last a month. It’s been two-and-a-half years since then, so I’d say he was right!

  9. Whenever there is a big snowstorm we go on a date to Basi Italia. I love walking there with all the lovely flakes falling and then warming up with a bowl of pasta.

  10. My current spouse and I went on our first date to a college semi-formal dance. We began the evening with dinner at one of the best restaurants in Toledo (unfortunately, it has since gone out of business) then enjoyed the rest of the evening with friends laughing about the age and cultural difference between us and the rest of the room. We convinced the DJ to play Madonna’s Vogue by saying that it would get everyone to dance. We were shocked when everyone left the dance floor except for the old folks!
