We are BIG on Wolf’s Ridge Barrel Aged Beers

Four Septembers ago Wolf’s Ridge Brewing opened this doors to their restaurant and brewery and we ran our first public tour. In the following months we made a lot of trips to Wolf’s Ridge and watched a weekly evolution of the business and their approach to the craft of beer. No one at Wolf’s Ridge Brewing would have predicted the deep lines that queue up for their special bottle releases today or that they would be able to find the extra space to build up a highly respected barrel aging program. Well, they did, and they did it well.

Chris Davison and his team have pulled out all of their expertise to craft two beers worthy of a fourth anniversary. Their Imperial Cream Ale, called All the Breakfast, might merit the moniker, The Kitchen Sink, since it combines these multiple grains: barley, corn, oats, wheat, rice, smoked malt then adds some orange peel, lactose and dark maple syrup. But wait that is not all, they then conditioned the ale with cacao nibs, toasted coconut, cinnamon, vanilla, more orange peel and One Line Coffee. Now that is a breakfast beer.

The smaller bottle in this line up packs a bigger punch than its bigger brother. Dave Doesn’t Know, starts as Pi pumpkin ale with One Line Coffee and then aged thirteen months in Watershed Bourbon barrels. So know Dave knows, but until it was bottled he did not know about the pumpkin or the One Line Coffee. Sorry Dave, we were told that is not your thing.

Join us at Wolf’s Ridge for our Craft & Draft tour for an education on sour beers, barrel aging and creative crafting in Columbus Ohio. And happy anniversary Wolf’s Ridge.
